After having their home match against the Crystal River Pirates canceled due to the Hurricane Dorian, the Lady Panthers Varsity Volleyball team hit the road for two matches this week.
vs. South Sumter Raiders
Varsity Volleyball dominated in 3 sets vs. South Sumter. Although they were missing two starters Tristen King and Joeimilie Rijos Lozada the volleyball team did not let that affect their play. Each player stepped up and filled the gaps. Grace Teitelman filled a role serving and playing back row along with her hitting skills and had 5 aces, 1 kill, 1 assist, 2 digs, 4 serve receive passes and 10 service points. Haley Thomasson stepped in as a setter and had 7 kills, 7 assists, 6 digs, 2 blocks, 7 aces, and 16 service points. Davis Bryson added front row to her defense expertise and produced 3 kills, 2 assists, 10 digs, 3 aces, and 9 serve receive passes, and 8 service points. Tyler Conklin was strong on the service line with 6 aces and 11 service points and also contributed 10 digs, and 16 serve receive passes. Mikal Sorel added 6 kills, 1 block and 3 service points. Mallori Grey also stepped up as a setter and gave us 3 kills, 6 assists, 5 digs, 4 aces and 9 service points. Grace Taylor ended with 3 kills and 1 block while Taelor Rath and Kiah Frink contributed 1 kill each.
vs. Springstead Eagles
Varsity Volleyball had a slow start in the first set as they realized all teams improve as the season develops. After a rough first set they settled in and made some serve receive adjustments and ended strong beating the Springstead Eagles in 4 sets. Tristen King’s return after being sick made a great impression on the net with 4 blocks and 2 kills. Haley Thomasson led the team in kills with 11 kills, 2 assists, 9 digs, 1 block, 10 serve receive passes and 2 service points. Mikal Sorel also had an impressive night on the net with 6 kills, 2 blocks, 3 digs, 5 aces, and 9 service points. Joeimilie Rijos Lozada provided 28 assists, 3 kills, 11 digs, 6 serve receive passes, 3 aces, and 11 service points. Mallori Grey had 5 kills, 1 assist, 6 digs, 15 serve receive passes, 1 ace, and 8 service points. Davis Bryson did a great job at the service line with 3 aces, 14 service points, 8 digs, and 2 serve receive passes. Tyler Conklin also produced on the service line and defensively with 3 aces, 12 service points, 20 digs, 22 serve receive passes, and 1 assist. Grace Teitelman also brought us 7 kills.
