In the second match up this week for these two teams, both came ready to fight for the win. The Panthers tied the score in the second quarter with a Cynthia Homs pick-6, leaving the score 6-6 at the half. The Panthers defense got a stop late in the fourth quarter, to get the ball back in the hands of the offense. Trinity Keeran hit Arraiol Stevens on a short pass route, allowing Stevens to tie up the game with 1:50 left on the clock. After a Homs interception, returned to the 18 yard line, the Panthers took control of the ball with less than 30 seconds left in the game. Keeran connected with Evelyn Mimnagh on a 10 yard touchdown strike, allowing the Panthers to take the lead, 18-12. Keeran, with a quarterback keeper, ran in the extra point, getting Lecanto the win, 19-12. Lecanto’s defense was led by Cynthia Homs with 4 flag pulls and 3 interceptions, Grace Taylor with 4 flag pulls and Denver Spaulding with 3 flag pulls. The Panthers improve their record to 3-1, and will play at Crystal River on Thursday.
