The Lecanto Varsity Girls’ basketball team avenged an early season loss against Wildwood Monday night by beating the Wildcats in Wildwood 53-48.
The Panthers were led in scoring by Jazzy Henry with 13, 11 of which were scored in the 4th quarter. Other Panthers contributing offensively were Paige Harrison, and Abby Rome with 8 points a piece and Zay Rome, Cynthia Home, and Lauren Diehl each adding 7.
The story of the night was the Panthers pressure. Guards Henry, Cynthia, and Peyton Spaulding were consistently pressure the Wildcats’ guards all night and forced a multitude of turnovers.
This was the Panthers’ 7th win in a row and moves the team to 11-3 on the season. The Panthers host Weeki Wachee tomorrow night. JV plays at 6 and varsity will follow
